Michigan Burn Soccer Team and The Sports Academy of Chesterfield, hosted a “Spring Break Soccer Camp” in April 2017. Boys and girls ages 6-13 participated in the program which involved coaches working in a fun and positive environment while igniting a passion for soccer. Coach Christian Graczyk chose the Foundation as the recipient of a portion of the camp proceeds. He presented a check for $380—which will be used for support of programs in the greater Anchor Bay community. Thank you!

The Chesterfield Township Police Department (see photos) hosted a booth at the Chesterfield Arts & Music Festival conducting the Justin Mello KidPrint program that provides ID cards to children in our community. The Anchor Bay Community Foundation administers the Justin Mello Memorial Fund and KidPrint program.

The Anchor Bay Community Foundation celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a champagne and hors d’oeuvre reception at Stahls Automotive Museum in New Baltimore, MI, to recognize and thank special friends and donors. On December 12, two area cemeteries, St. Mary Queen of Creation and Oakwood Cemetery will have over 750 wreaths placed on the graves of veterans. Nicholas Dehem received a 2015 grant from the Anchor Bay Community Foundation, awarded for the Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Engineering Program. Nick, who just entered 10th grade at Anchor Bay High School, along with his parents, Jim and Kathy, visited the Foundation’s monthly meeting to share his experience there. Following this summer camp, Nick said he has more options in the engineering field when he enters college, including mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering and even aerospace. He said the program, which ran from July 12-18, 2015, included about 150 students from all over the world. The students attended classes from 8 a.m. to noon, took a lunch break and resumed classes until evening. The classes included English 101, chemical change experiments, a visit to Isle Royale, Hancock Park, the Quincy Mine, and a rock museum.

The Anchor Bay Community Foundation has an upcoming scholarship deadline on July 30, 2015.
The Velma MacDonald Continuing Education Scholarship, first initiated by the Anchor Bay Lions Club of Anchorville, assists with funds for books and tuition to be awarded to a student who has completed the sophomore year at a four-year college or university and has completed high school in the Anchor Bay area.
The Dick and Lois Pierson Hard Hats and Tool Belts Scholarship is for a candidate who lives within the Anchor Bay School District and has acceptance from a college, technical school, trade school or has an apprenticeship.

In 2013 and 2014 the Foundation hosted its first “Dress Yourself” luncheon with vendors, fashions modeled by friends, volunteers and donors.
Lois & Dick Pierson hosted several winetasting events in their lakeside home—with a Yooper Party on the lawn in 2012.

The Anchor Bay Community Foundation has hosted a series of events.
For several years an annual banquet was held at Cedar Glen Golf Course honoring donors and goodwill ambassadors. Grant recipients such as the Anchor Bay High School jazz band and choirs provided entertainment.

The New Baltimore Interfaith Choir performed in the “Singing Christmas Tree” at the high school performing arts center. The “tree” donated by Velma Cullen MacDonald was a holiday favorite for several years featuring the Interfaith Choir, the Anchor Bay Community Band, local school and dance troupes. In the final years, friends of the Foundation—donors, volunteers, civic and community leaders adorned the “branches” in “T’was Sort of the Night Before Christmas.”
The Foundation was proud to support “Believe In Christmas” featuring members of the Anchor Bay Stars Glee Club and Show Choir.
